“You don't make a photograph just with a camera.
You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books
you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.” - Ansel Adams

RAY OF LIGHT
"Dusk is just an illusion because the sun is either
above the horizon or below it. And that means that day and night are linked in
a way that few things are, there cannot be one without the other yet they
cannot exist at the same time. How would it feel, I remember wondering, to be
always together yet forever apart?"
- Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook
Dusk is one of the most beautiful times of the day to be captured on camera. The 'Ray of Light' photos all have been centred around capturing the illusion of the sun just as it begins to set. The feeling you get from watching the sun set is indescribable, however witnessing such an event can make you feel at peace and like you do not have a care left in the world.

CAIRNS PHOTO DIARY
“Twenty years from now you will be
more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade
winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” - Mark Twain
And that’s what I did. Well, I
guess not literally, but you get the gist. Anyway, my holiday of exploring,
dreaming and discovering was made up of enjoying the Queensland sunshine, in
those few hours when it wasn’t raining at least, relaxing by the water’s edge
and endlessly wandering through markets, not to mention the spiders,
which seemed to be absolutely everywhere, and the crocodiles, which thankfully
were not absolutely everywhere. So, whatever your travel plans are, go and explore, dream and
discover, and don’t forget to take a few photos along the way, of course!
